WEEK 47: I SEE HAIRS OF GREEN....NOW THEY'RE BLACK

Well just to explain the title.... after taking a shower for some STRANGE reason... my hair actually began turning green... so we had to color my hair and well after a bad color selection it is very VERY dark.... Mom Im sorry. BUT at least I am not like a fire hydrant here in Mexico anymore. Not being whistled at and stared at every 3 seconds. YEAHHH

PONDERIZING SCRIPTURES: ... forgot them... whoops. NEXT WEEK for sure

TUESDAY: Had the ¨[how is your training going?¨ meeting with President and all the new missionaries. Great lessons taught on working with members and the importance of planning. Going to this meeting sincerely helped me recognize the ENORMOUS amount of miracles that Hermana Espinal and I have seen throughout these past 5 weeks.

WEDNESDAY: Got to be district leader for a day. So strange, but I was asked to teach the district meeting on revelation through prayer. I was shocked to find SO many things that I can be better in myself through prayer and also as companions teaching prayer to our investigators. The lesson was truly amazing andmy testimony for sincere SPECIFIC personal spiritual prayers increased more than I could have imagined. Had the best flan (mexican dessert) that I have had my entire mission and won the love of the member asking for the recipe. Fam, prepare yourselves, its like buttermilk pie status. Dropped our investigators Edgar and Estella which actually was really sad as Edgar bluntly commented ¨I dont like what youre doing here, youre making me sad¨ Its hard dropping investigators, but if they sincerely are not progressing and you have many others who are... you gotta do what you gotta do. AND the blessings immediately came. Went to see Rene who had a family with him visiting who live around the corner and want to learn what is making Rene so happy. We began to speak about the gospel, and BOOM he accepted everything. It was as if he had dropped from heaven. Also the crazy spiderman jersey kid I found in the street? Found his family of 6 and all of them accepted with free candy to listen and get to know who really are the mormons. Ended the day seeing Minerva and Pablo who are progressing so much. They both want to be baptized, just praying Alvaro has it in his heart to believe in marriage.

THURSDAY: This was one of those days where not a single investigator, nor less active, nor member was home. But we were able to meet with our ward mission leader who has the entire ward council on board with all of the baptismal dates we have coming up. SO it was still a pretty awesome day.

FRIDAY: Recieved sad news from the family of Monica that her husband is not at all ready to be married or allow his wife to be married... so she cant be baptized next week. BUT we set a family night appointment with their WHOLE family who arent members to explain what it is that Monica sincerely is desiring to do so that we win his trust and they can progress together. Had an AWESOME time teaching the youth in our ward how to contact and invite people to church as we had them all run around with neon posters inviting whoever they could find to the missionary activity we have on saturday. Good laughs and many of the youth all actually learned missionary work can actually be fun and edifying. Went to check on Alejandra, who is very dangerously depressed with her husband leaving her with nothing, but after praying how we can help her, and her being an ex missionary, we just talked about memories of the mission... well more me and her considering my companion still hasnt had as many. And after sparking that love for that work, she put us in her car, took us to our investigators and testified in every lesson with all her heart to Minerva and Alvaro about marriage and the importance of marriage. Alvaro agreed to be married and be baptized on August 27th with his wife. WHAT a miracle. The lesson ended with the 2 year old daughter of Alvaro saying Amen at the end of the prayer and Alvaro had tears in his eyes realizing the change that is happening with his family. A lesson that I will never forget.

SATURDAY: Crazy day of running around trying to get everything set for the missionary activity... which due to some chaos didnt turn out so great. In the beginning, we had 5 investigators but because the activity started late from members not showing up and some chords and knick knacks not in order... they left. In the end, we went in front with the elders testifying of the responsibility of the members to support and work with us in this work. We cant do anything without them. After the powerful testimonies, a sheet of paper was passed around and all signed to come with us to lessons and gave us over 25 references. So in a way, the activity was a success. Little by little, this ward is changing and growing and I LOVE IT.

SUNDAY: Church was great as investigators that we sincerely believed wouldnt progress and were planning on dropping MIRACULOUSLY SHOWED UP. Rosi, the woman who believes is having spells cast on her, showed up, AND wants to be baptized. Karen, the 15 year old teenager who likes to party a ton, found the elders and told her she wants us back and she wants to change and be baptized. Minerva and Alvaro agreed to pray at Pablos baptism which will be the 30th. The family we miraculously found through Rene has already began reading the book of Mormon, wants to be married in the temple, and agreed to be baptized the 27th of August. What does this mean? Yes, we have 8 baptisms as of right now that are very strong progressing children of God who have been sincerely prepared by the Lord to make these choices in this time. And I have the privilege to watch it all happen. Im just the instrument. Its DEFINITELY not anything of my personal work. Our district leader called us in the night asking what are we doing? I only responded. ¨Elder, sincerely I have no idea what were doing. We just have faith, trust in the Lord, and a little bit of pixie dust. And we smile a lot and just love the people. And are just very energetic¨ And actually rang true because in my personal study today, I found a quote from Russell M Nelson, ¨

¨Enthusiasm comes from the greek roots ¨en¨ and ¨theo¨ which means ¨God is within us¨

So... I guess if you just have a love for the work and show it sincerely, the Lord will be with you at all times, in all things, and in all places. I testify of that. Sincerely.

So missionaries, friends, fam:

GO GET EM WET.

Help us out with this incredible work of the Lord.

Its worth it.

Last of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAMES I LOVE YOU
