TUESDAY: Taught Felipe on fasting so he would be able to do a fast before his baptism and organized his baptism leaving him a ponderizing scripture for the day. While my companion skyped her family, I was able to sit in on Ingrid´s family skyping their son. SUCH a spiritual experience. The family was in tears from his testimony. So awesome to see missionaries all over the world blessing their families with their testimonies. Contacted all over our area with a young women named Sandy who is SO close to putting in her mission papers. Stoked for her. .... then the best part. Showed up at our house where on the first floor the town wide gang was having a huge party... in our house. So we ran upstairs, locked the door, called our district leaders and then in pajamas got excorted out by 6 elders to have a sleepover with our sister training leaders. HAH. great memories.
WEDNESDAY: We have made it our goal to share the video ¨Stop It¨ from the church to EVERYONE of the members. And it is making a huge difference. As we have noticed over time that judging, gossiping and bullying is an issue in the church, we want to start making it a difference, member by member. Found a less active dipping wood in car oil to paint them.... so we helped. The jokes of how I finally have become a mexican were endless during the dirty work. But (SPOILER ALERT) because of the fun service we did with them THEY ALL CAME TO CHURCH! Met with our bishop to speak on our progress and the trust that he has with us now is AWESOME. But with that responsibility, we have a LOT of work to do now. Very busy, AND I LOVE IT. Taught our part member family how to start having family nights and they´ll have there first one this monday!!! So excited! Even taught them how to play blind man.... the tradition continues.
THURSDAY: Part 2 of my title is that for the first time, we weren´t able to find a member to come with us to Cuapan to teach Midori and Asencion ... so we walked... and we taught on repentance... and as serious as repentance is... it worked well with the thunder and dark clouds that were coming pretty fast. Quite intimidating... and yes we walked home... 40 minutes... in the pouring rain.... soaked to death... with men in trucks hysterically laughing at us along the way. BUT thanks to my wonderful companion, who loves the same music as me, burst out singing ¨Beautiful Day¨ by U2 and we burst out singing laughing and just enjoying the blessing of rain. (later I realized that all of my books in my bag were ruined so that was big low BUT I like to focus on the happy stuff)
FRIDAY: Left bright and early BACK TO ATLIXCO to have a special training conference with Elder Valenzuela which was AWESOME. Taught on companionships ( LOVE MY COMPANION), obedience, and teaching repentance and the sacrament to our investigators. The flood of memories that came from seeing my first area was INSANE. Miss it so much and SO many people are in my mind that I want to help there. Maybe if the Lord allows it, I can go back and help Him out over there. Dropped off Felipe´s daily scripture of D&C 50:24 which was PERFECT to prepare him for his baptism TOMORROW!
SATURDAY: What a great day Felipe´s baptism was. Everyone was so willing to help and support and love. His wife gave a powerful prayer crying out in gratitude that FINALLY their family is together in unity. The tradition continues of being asked to sing at the baptism last minute. Sang Nearer my God to thee and the spirit was just so powerful and Felipe even bore his testimony on how incredible a change he has seen in his life and in his family thanks to this gospel. AGH so cool. D&C 18 - is legit happiness. Had a lesson with Midori where the lesson of repentance we had before really hit her and she wants to sincerely repent and forget everything that has happened in her life. Working with a lot of people to help her understand that thanks to the Atonement and our loving Redeemer, Jesus Christ, it is more than possible to have that guilt and that burden of sin lifted. I`ve felt it time and time again. And I know that Midori can also feel it over and over again. Her pain and her needs sincerely actually hurt me and feel so bad and want more than anything to help her leave those terrible feelings behind. Also finally found our reference Ceci and showed her the Stephanie Nielson burn victim video which completely was perfect for her and her family because her mom is a burn victim and they completely opened up to us to teach them how their family can be together forever. the gospel is the most amazing thing this life has to offer. If you don´t have it, ask someone of the missionaries. We´ll be more than happy to share it. It`s like free hugs. Who doesn`t like free hugs? Free hugs from representatives of Jesus Christ.
SUNDAY: At church, Felipe was confirmed and had a wonderful lesson on the responsibility of missionaries and members in the ward and the missionary work that we need to do TOGETHER. Then, Ingrid ran up to us VERY excited to give us a reference that the lesson was set immediately right after church. So ofcourse we went and applied what my companion and I have learned from Elder Valenzuela and also studying The Donaldson Papers (missionaries, if you dont have this talk, EMAIL ME cause you need it. it will change your mission) and Vere (our new investigator) during the lesson after asking her how she feels she said ¨I feel something that is this insane sensation and I´ve never felt this before... but I want this. I want this feeling forever. How?¨ And we invited her to be baptized. It was the most simple, spiritual, and powerful lesson that I have ever given in all of my mission. Hermana Lopez and I were practically dancing in the street happy from the spirit that entered into that lesson. Because something that missionaries learn is that it`s not us... its the spirit that teaches. Had a good cry during companionship study overwhelmed with the spirit and just the desire to help everyone and love everyone. I don`t know how the Lord does it. Because I definitely can`t, even though I want to... but I can be a little help in this big work. And that`s good enough for me (:
I LOVE YOU ALL. If you ever need someone to talk to, PLEASE, do not hesitate do just write or spill out your feelings. I`m here as a friend, your friend. So is the Lord... so if you need me any other day besides Monday, just try out a prayer to the Lord and you`ll feel better.
LOVE YOU GUYS!
