TUESDAY: EIGHT MONTHS IN THE MISSION. insane. Went with Asencion and Antonia to get their exams done for their wedding with members who gave a ton of free food and offered to finish their schooling for free. ANGELS. And then it poured rain. Did a trial baptismal interview with Asencion where Antonia dropped the bomb on us that she didn`t want to get baptized... but still going strong for Midori and Asencion. Right after the lesson, Candy told us we need ANOTHER form from a different country to get Asencion legally married. WHICH is practically impossible at this point. Satan is shoving stress into our faces. BUT were still fighting.
WEDNESDAY: Played jeopardy in district meeting where sincerely, need to study more eficazmente to understand some more points in the Bible. Dropped our 15 year old puppy lover who straight up told us the only reason she wants to be baptized is to be with her boyfriend.... ya no. We´re going to give her a month or so to sincerely grow her testimony and have a true desire to be baptized before we continue teaching her again. 15 year olds... man. That age. Went to grab more papers from Antonia to finalize the wedding plans AND SHE DIDN´T HAVE THEM. She said ¨I wont have them until the 1st of May.¨ The day of Asencion´s baptism. Our member later told us she could see right through her and knew it was an excuse. So Ascension can`t get married and can`t be baptized... SO sad. And all of the people we had that were progressing a day before, dropped.... just like in the Book of Mormon, you have a GREAT time for a little and then the trials come. BUT all we know now is that it can only go up from here. STOKED. (oh and just to top it all off, a man was murdered in the street two streets down from our house... its aiight. Its Mexico.)
THURSDAY: Visited a member that the Relief Society president told us to visit. Teresa. She was very confused why we were visiting her at first considering shes very active. We as well were confused why but just went, ate with her, shared a scripture, and her grandaughter, Azul, did our hair with bows. A little boy, Juan, whos Mormon that sells bread and icecream in the street walked with us and talked. Hes our friend (: He was burned in a horrible accident by his drunk father but him and his family found peace in the church and were all baptized. And now everyday, (except for sunday) he walks up and down the streets on his little bike (like from Nacho Libre) selling to raise money for his mission, of course paying tithing first. He already has 6,000 pesos and hes been doing it for 5 years. 12 years old and already has the testimony and faith that brings me to tears. Of course we ran to the nearest members asking them to buy from him to help him out. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Called Ascension just to see if he was okay with all the craziness that happened yesterday... and he was drunk. DANGIT, Satan. And our water in our house doesnt work now. If I could shoot Satan with an AK47, I would. But its okay, because in the end we win.
FRIDAY: Visited another member Ivonne who acts like we never visit her when we JUST saw her last week... silly members. Pedro showed us a video of Popo the volcano exploding and three UFOS appeared in the background. Ate THE best quesadillas with mushrooms and calabaza flowers. Fam, try it. And the best part is that an inactive member gave them to us and told us shes coming to church (SPOILER ALERT: SHE DID (: ) Mom, I`m sorry but my body has adapted to Coke and now I can chug a half liter of Coke in less than 2 minutes... the members ALWAYS give it. Ended the day in a family night with Melissa and Germain. All the members are so concerned why our golden investigators just fell. My only explanation, Satan.
SATURDAY: Found one of our old investigators and found she has an 8 year old daughter. 8 years old is a golden age here. So she accepted us again and said we could come watch Finding Faith in Christ with her. YES. Answers to prayers. WE felt SO good after that, that Hermana Gonzales and I bought two bouquets of roses after and just contacted everyone we saw, members and non members giving out roses. The smiles were infinite. LOVED IT. One of the best times of the mission. And through that brilliant idea, found MORE of our old investigators who actually were upset we havent come by to see them. SO WE HAVE MORE AND MORE WORK. I KNEW UP WAS COMING. OUr recent convert Antonia and her husband Felipe who is basically the town detective told us all the details on the murder that happened. I felt like I was in a Psych episode. Awesome. Then our member Juana, brought us goodies from the temple. Love her (:
SUNDAY: Church was involved of talks on the topic ¨What more do I lack?¨ Taught Principles of the Gospel on the Sabbath Day and shared examples of Chick-Fil-A not opening on Sundays and how BYU lost the football game because they played past 12:00 on a Saturday night. The investigators got a good laugh out of our examples. And all understand it more simply. Simple examples that are relatable are the ticket to understanding. Teresa, the member we had no idea why we visited, stood up publicly during Relief Society and thanked us for visiting her when she really needed it for a reason that was private. WOW. Awesome moment. Then didn`t find anyone during the day as noone seemed to be home. Our youth went to place Books of Mormons for mission prep in the town center. AWESOME. Ended the day eating horse. And it was delicious. But, I felt like crying knowing that I was eating a beautiful animal. PERO, ESTA BIEN. (:
This week was a rollercoaster. A big down but a gradual up. And were just still going up. Transfers are next week and I`m just ready for whatever the Lord has in store for me next.
