It's A Wonderful Life

WOW. So wow. woooowww. this was the best week by far in the mission. I know I´ve probably already said that before. BUT WOW. yes this week has been more than memorable.

PONDERIZING SCRIPTURES: D&C 65:4, D&C 84:66, 2 Nephi 19:6

All those have something in common... I´ll let you guys figure that out.

TUESDAY: I woke up feeling terribly homesick. Don´t really know how to explain it but it just happened. And I HATED it. So ofcourse I said a prayer. And just begging for how I could get out of this mindset. Then the line popped into my head. ITS A WONDERFUL LIFE. then the whole story of that message came to my mind and I applied to my situation. What if I never served a mission? Then all of the sudden my whole perspective changed. Ever since I´ve decided to serve a mission I´ve witnessed so many miracles and so much joy come to me and to others. It´s incredible. If I didn´t serve and didn´t continue to serve... what would happen? wow. Change immediately. IT was a miracle in its self. ANd the rest of the day I was humming Buffalo gals and the song Boots by the killers the rest of the day. The day was full of walking and failed appointments but didn´t let that kill me. At the end of the day we reluctantly found Monica and had a lesson with her on the curb eating hamburgers in the freezing cold. It was so special and we were going over all her questions and doubts before her interview. Then the song Silent Night came on in some distant neighbors house. We had a good cry together after that. SHE IS SO READY.

WEDNESDAY: District meeting was great full of scavenger hunts of scriptures and practices. Love those guys like family away from home. Met with Monica again for preparation for her interview and she has a KILLER testimony. Holy cow. Then we had a amazing lesson with the Baxin Cruz family. Lupita and I clicked finally and she opened up about her fear to be baptized. With a little fire and love and the spirit, we were able to set January 2nd with her for baptism FOR SURE. and guess what?? SHES GETTING MARRIED BEFORE CHRISTMAS yessss. I was soooo happy after that. I said feliz navidad to every person in the street. Even the men who whistle and are creepy. Which freaked em out haha NOTHING CAN DEGRADE MY HAPPINESS: haha

THURSDAY: Today we gave Ruben and Elia to the other missionaries because lol they actually dont live in our area. SO good luck to them in that ward. THEEENNN we had Monica´s baptismal interview!! She was so nervous at first, but came out like a champ! We were so happy especially with Elder Rose and Elder Mendez when we got Alejandrina to sign for permision. The song Uptown Funk came on next door full blast. And we couldnt help it. We all just danced. We were soooo happy. ANd literally nothing else happened that day because our appointments fell through but IT DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE IM STILL HAPPY.

FRIDAY: Contacted a ton and received a tonnnn. IT was great. and lol heard the Whip/Nae nae song in the street for the first time in what seems like forever. Had a good laugh at that haha Then grabbed Monica to go to a church activity called UNA EXPERIENCIA INOLVIDABLE. And oh it was unforgettable. They had us travel through each room as if we were first hand witnessing the plan of salvation. We visited with Christ, then went to hell, the telesitial and terestial kingdom and ended in the celestial kingdom. Hell was terrifying. haha they did a darn good job making people never want to go there. But the celestial kingdom literally felt like a little piece of the temple there. It was so white. and Monica just beamed wanting to do everything to get there. SOOO amazing. And ended watching the Because of Him video. AGHHH great day.

SATURDAY: CONGRATULATIONS TO LUCY AND ELLA FOR BEING BAPTIZED TODAY. Im so glad the Lord blessed us with a baptism this week because if I wasn´t preparing for that feeling the same feelings and seeing the same things, it would´ve been rough, la verdad. Haha BUT today was great. If I didn´t say already, all week our boiler has been broken so we´ve been showering with ice cold water in buckets... which was superrr fun. BUT because of blessings of the members here, sweet Hermano Fernando came and fixed it today so HOT WATER yesss. The baptism for Monica was what kept us busy allll day. We found out today we get to watch the Christmas devotional tomorrow and since Moní´s baptism is the same day, we get to have her baptism at the stake center right before the devotional. QUE ESPECIAL!! But wasn´t easy to change last minute, hah, lotsss of phone calls, BUT during all the craziness, ran into Alana and Alex and they with her mom invited us over to dinner AND we found out that a women who we thought was a member who´s been attending for 26 years isnt actually mormon and SHE WANTS TO GET BAPTIZED. so pray all works out for that.

SUNDAY: WHAT a beautiful day. At church, Renata attacked me showing me her homemade book she is now using every Sunday to take notes on. Challenge for you guys to do the same, if an 8 year old can do it, yall can. AND HOLY COW, the attendance at church was incredible. we had 300 plus in attendance. Had to do the sacrament twice. And of course, it was the day I was asked to sing O Holy Night. After singing, the testimonies were just beyond anything I´ve ever felt from the spirit. Wow. Unforgettable sacrament.OTHER miracle. The piano fixed miraculously so I was able to play again for the first time in 4 weeks. After the meeting, the little girls gathered and I played Let it Go. I KID YOU NOT, EVERY one in the ward started belting out Let it go... or Soy libre here. EVEN the bishopric. It was a great moment. We were given pizza by the members to eat really fast before we sprinted over to the stake center to get ready for the baptism. AGHHH how special it was. Sooo many people came to support her. Hermana Salcedo spoke on the Holy Ghost and I sang Yo se que vive mi Senor. She just glowed. Never have I ever felt so much love for a girl Iive only known for three months. Right before she entered the baptismal font, she broke down. It was the most precious thing I´ve ever seen. Then ended with hugs and love. AND ran to the secretary´s office where we were all blessed as american missionaries to once again watch the broadcast in English.

I want to close with one of my favorite points from conference as well as the song I´ve been dancing and humming to all week. A quote from the song I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day.

Oh, God is not dead and not asleep.

The wrong shall fail. The right will prevail.

With peace on earth, good will to men.

GLORY be to God in the highest. It is a wonderful life I´m living. Spreading good tidings of great joy with peace on earth and good will to men.

MERRY CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE.
